Square Star Quilt | Personal project, 2022

Linen, wool, calico, linocut

I took up quilting as a way to reuse woollen sheets otherwise destined for the bin at a previous job. The coffee van I worked at would order sweet treats to be delivered frozen, and each week about a dozen metres of wool material would be tossed. As the wool was washed but chemically untreated, it made perfect quilt batting after being stitched into panels.

The square star pattern was taken from the windows of a Parisian building.Â
